Presentation by: Guy B. Marin (Laboratory for Chemical Technology, Ghent University, Belgium)
This presentation shows that an accurate reactor model is needed to determine reaction kinetics in the presence of transport limitations that cannot be avoided (‘irreducible transport phenomena’). It is demonstrated using the partial oxidation of methane carried out over a single platinum gauze which could be modelled successfully using an adapted flat-plate model. Please note that this presentation uses the movie ‘Cpo-ignition.avi’ for showing the ignition of the gauze reactor on Slide 18.
