Review of in situ/operando combined characterization techniques performed in dedicated set-ups that provide simultaneous structural information and relevant kinetic information of high surface area catalysts. The most applied techniques are X-ray based (XRD, XAS), vibrational spectroscopy (IR, RS) and electronic spectroscopy (UV-Vis). Combinations of different complementary techniques are increasingly applied since they deliver great amounts of information. This enhances our understanding on the reactions under investigation.
