Review on the fluid catalytic cracking of heavy and more aromatic feedstocks. Several types of feedstocks are included in this review, like atmospheric and vacuum residue, oil-sand derived VGO, coker gas oil and polyolefins. The effect of the catalyst on the FCC of heavy feedstocks is significant. The basic concepts for the kinetic models developed for the FCC process are also presented in this study. In general, it seems that the further evolution of the analytical chemistry of petroleum is essential for the detection of the exact effect of heavy and residual feed components cracking on the product slate and product quality.
