Review of tools and knowledge on assessment of reactor systems on sufficient mixing rate for providing intrinsic chemical kinetics of fast but finite rate chemical reactions, typically in the liquid phase. The report describes theory, experimental work, and types of experiments. It is explained how the turbulent mixing, which often determines the overall mixing rate, can be estimated. The report also discusses CFD models for reactive mixing, gaps in current knowledge, suggestions for a spreadsheet for evaluating mixing effects, and conclusions and recommendations.
