This is a scientific report on the state of the art of experimental and theoretical methods for the determination of gas-phase, catalytic and non-catalytic thermal explosion. Classical theories have been indicated as useful tools for the definition of catalytic or thermal chemical process with respect to the hazard of runaway reactions in the gas phase, and with respect to the formation of hot spots. The cited diagrams shown in this report are based on the “divergence” of process conditions, including the insurgence of undesired reactions, and may be designed on the base of known thermal and kinetic parameters for all the chemical reactions.
