Review of literature and patents on the original “NEMCA” experiments and reactions and then widening to a research field which is now known under the acronym EPOC (Electrochemical Promotion of Catalysis). Special focus on electrochemical promotion applied to synthetic reactions leading to organic key chemicals with Cn (n=1-4) and including a special interest in oxidation reactions of C3 and C4 components. Review of flow reactors and material concepts as developed and used for EPOC (publications + patents). The focus was on reactors using electrochemical promotion and solid ionic conductors.
