This work is concerned with methods and routines for discrimination among rival kinetic models and for precise parameter estimation by means of Sequential Experimental Design (SED). The two main objectives of the work, defined as subtasks, are Subtask 1: To explain the different methods for SED by means of practical cases. Application of the methodology for single and complex reactions as well as for dynamic experiments will be treated in the present document. Subtask 2: To describe and compare software codes for SED developed by academic research groups as well as software vendor companies. This subtask is treated a separate
document entitled as “SED_codes”. The results of this work could be used to enhance the developments of commercial software concerning sequential design of experiments.
2002

2001
Paper on the development of microkinetic expressions by instationary methods,
2000
Investigation on statistical Design of Experiment techniques
for reactor modeling and determination of reaction kinetics. Special attention has been paid to the various steps in the determination of the kinetic models. Starting from scratch linear screening designs separating main effects from secondary influences are discussed. Knowing the dominant effects, designs for determining the shape (linear effects, higher order terms and possible interactions) are mentioned. A survey was made of genuinely nonlinear designs for model discrimination and parameter accuracy refinement.
2000
Position paper concerning parameter estimation methods.
